JUST IN: Trump thanks Arlington, saying ‘see you soon’ in the statement

President Biden reportedly repeated Donald Trump’s name 24 times during his stoppage of the gubernatorial campaign in Arlington last night, and it may have summoned the former president back for a visit.

Trump, who seemed pleased with the chants of “We love Trump” at the Biden event, released a somewhat mysterious statement this afternoon.

“Sing, ‘We love Trump’ in Arlington, Va. Thank you, Arlington, see you soon!” written by the former president.

It’s unclear if Trump really intends to go to Arlington in the near future. His last known appearance here was on Election Day last year, when he visited his re -election campaign headquarters in Rosslyn.

Today’s statement was met with surprise on social media, with many wondering whether Trump would oppose stopping Biden’s campaign for Democratic candidate for governor Terry McAuliffe at an event for GOP candidate Glenn Youngkin. That was unexpected, given Trump’s unpopularity here and the fact McAuliffe staked his campaign on linking Youngkin to Trump.

McAuliffe said in a tweet that Trump was, in fact, planning to campaign for Youngkin in Virginia.

Donald Trump is going to Virginia to campaign for his chosen man Glenn Youngkin. That’s enough MAGA nonsense. Let’s defeat Trump again this November!

Meanwhile, Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), That “Trump should be prepared to hear from Arlingtonians” about the pro-Trump violence on Jan. 6 at the Capitol in case he visits.

As an Arlington Congressman, I can say its residents are still angry at Donald Trump’s attempts to steal the 2020 election and the violent insurrection he wreaked on the Capitol on January 6th. If he was going here he should be ready to hear from the Arlingtonians about it.

Trump’s vice president, Mike Pence, established an official office in Arlington earlier this year, after Biden took office.
