Donald Trump Wants to ‘Defeat Forever’ the GOP Without Him — Book

Donald Trump warned Republican leaders in the final hours of his presidency that he would launch a new political party and that without him the GOP would “lose forever,” a new book claims.

Trump only withdrew the plans after party leaders threatened to stop paying any legal fees he incurred in post -election challenges, and promised to provide 40 million strong email lists of Trump supporters which is “worthless,” according to the book.

Its author, ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl — citing two unnamed sources “with direct knowledge of these events” —detailed the heated exchange in his upcoming article Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show.

“I’m done. I’m going to start my own party.” Trump allegedly told Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel when she called to congratulate him on his last flight aboard Air Force One on Jan. 20.

“You can’t do that,” McDaniel told the outgoing president. “If you do, we’ll lose forever.”

“Exactly. You’re missing forever without me,” Trump replied. “I do not care.”

Trump’s motivation, according to the book, goes back to the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach him a second time, and in retaliation for the perceived lack of support for his calls to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

“This is what Republicans deserve for not sticking for me,” Trump told McDaniel on the call in which Donald Trump Jr., was also on the line, the book said.

McDaniel is said to have tried to convince Trump to create his own party that would destroy him as well.

“It’s not right for the people who depend on you, the people who believe in you,” McDaniel said. “You’ll ruin your legacy. You’ll end up.”

At the same time, unverified rumors are growing that Trump is planning a breakaway party, for which Trump has promised he will return when he leaves the White House.

Trump’s threat led to four days of tense debate in the GOP, according to Karl.

According to an extract from the book: “McDaniel and his leadership team have clarified that if Trump leaves, the party will immediately stop paying legal fees incurred in post -election challenges.”

Four political action committees linked to Trump will continue to spend approximately $ 7.9 million on legal fees related to Trump’s 2020 recount and his fight against impeachment, Federal filings show Election Commission.

“But, more significantly,” Karl wrote, “the RNC threatened to devalue Trump’s most important political asset,” referring to his campaign list of the email addresses of forty million Trump supporters.

“This is a list that Trump used to generate money by renting it out to candidates at a steep cost,” Karl wrote. “The list has generated so much money that party officials estimate it is worth about $ 100 million.”

In response to statements made in the book, Trump said: “ABC Non News and 3rd rate reporter Jonathan Karl have been writing fake news about me since the beginning of my political career.

“Just look at what has been revealed today about fraud in Russia, Russia, Russia. It’s a mythical and completely fabricated scam and the lamestream media knows it. It doesn’t end!”

McDaniel told ABC News that the statements in detail were “false” and that “he did not threaten” Trump.

“She is [Trump] and my relationship is good. We have worked tirelessly together to elect Republicans up and down the ballot, and will continue to do so, ”he said.
