Former President Donald Trump has raised the stakes on his mission to shape the GOP the way he wants it, eager to join the 2022 Republican primaries to strengthen specific candidates – and in some cases – who seek to push members of the party he hated, according to a CNN report.

In three states-North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama-the former president has played a massive role in supporting candidates who have earned his endorsement while seeking to push Republicans not to make the cut.

According to CNN, an individual close to Trump even compared him to mob boss Vito Corleone from the movie “The Godfather,” pointing to the former president’s efforts to clean up the GOP of lawmakers who criticized him in his role in the unrest on Jan. 6, as well as those who supported the $ 1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill defended by President Joe Biden.

According to the individual, Trump is “pulling the strings behind the scenes and guiding the candidates in the right direction.”

A year before the midterm elections, the former president is mapping out his strategy to push loyalists to key political positions.

Mark Walker to end his bid to become the next Tar Heel state senator in the US next year, as already endorsed by the former president. Rep. In Georgia, Trump asked former Sen. David Perdue to challenge incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp in Republican primary next year.

Perdue lost his re-election to today’s Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in a high-profile runoff election this past January, but has long been popular with state conservatives.

Trump remains furious that Kemp refused to help overturn Biden’s electoral victory in Georgia in November, a stance that also led the former president to endorse Rep. Jody Hice than current Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Raffensperger, who affirmed the integrity of the state vote during the presidential election, opposed Trump’s aggressive steps to “find” additional votes to nullify Biden’s win at Peach State.

The former president reportedly wants to create a “Trump ticket,” according to a state Republican operative, led by Herschel Walker as the party’s Senate nominee, along with other endorsed candidates for statewide races.

In the deeply conservative state of Alabama, Trump reportedly sought to oust fellow Republican Gov. To Ivey because of a canceled rally scheduled to take place this summer, first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The former president sought to hold a July 4 weekend rally in Mobile as a way to continue to connect with supporters who continue to support his “Make Again Great Again” political agenda. However, the event was canceled after local officials worried the gathering would be too political as it would be held at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.

Trump later held a rally in Cullman, Ala., In August, but he was still reported to Ivey for the decision and floated to endorse former U.S. Ambassador to Slovenia Lynda Blanchard to challenge the governor to a GOP gubernatorial primary.

Blanchard is currently in the race to succeed in retiring GOP Sen. Richard Shelby, and his departure from that career is likely to benefit Rep. Mo Brooks, a staunch ally of Trump who received the former president’s endorsement earlier this year.

Despite Trump’s seal of approval, Brooks was unhappy with the easy slip in the nomination.

The former president in recent weeks has complained to allies about the lack of momentum in the Brooks campaign, according to individuals with knowledge of the situation who spoke to CNN.

And Shelby endorsed Katie Britt, her former chief of staff, in the Senate race – along with the candidate who succeeded Brooks in fundraising for the most recent quarter.
