NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI-Thomas Donald Temple, age 62, of Negaunee Township, passed away Monday night, December 6, 2021, at UP Health System-Marquette.

Born on September 13, 1959, in Marquette, a son of Charles Buddy and Mary Lou (Redman) Temple, Tom grew up in Marquette, where he quickly developed a love of playing hockey. He graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1978 and played several hockey games with the Marquette Sentinels, as the youngest member of the team. Tom has worked for his life as a mechanic and welder, starting with helping establish Midway Rental, where he served as the company’s mechanic. On May 1, 1980, Tom was united in marriage to Jean O’Dovero, in St. Louis. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marquette. The couple moved to Anchorage, Alaska, for 6 years and then to Rhode Island for 2 years, where Tom worked as a mechanic in the same area. Later, they returned to Marquette where they raised their two sons. Locally, Tom worked for his father -in -law, Pete O’Dovero at O’Dovero Associated Constructors. He enrolled at Northern Michigan University, receiving an Associate Degree in Aircraft Maintenance from their Skills Center. He next worked at Heidtman Logging, which operates the harvester. Tom later returned to Associated Constructors as shop foreman for maintenance and then worked some time for Oberstar Excavating. For the last 7 years, Tom has worked for the Marquette County Road Commission as a welding fabricator. Two years ago, Tom and Jean bought a camper and enjoyed traveling and camping around the Upper Peninsula. Known for his passion for motorcycle racing, Tom was one of the first to dive the 25 -mile cross country track in Crandon, Wisconsin. He remained an avid hockey fan and greatly enjoyed watching his sons play the sport, always happy that a Temple was on the ice. Above all, Tom is a family man who is totally committed to his family and friends.

Tom is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean; his children, Charlie Temple of Hancock and Rick Temple of Harvey; siblings, John (Kelly Rae Kirby) Soldotna Temple, AK and Chuck (Cassie) Tiverton Temple, RI; some nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom preceded the death of a brother, Bill Temple.

A Life Celebration Gathering for family and friends will be held in the Summer of 2022 and will be announced.
