Navarro said he would not comply with the subpoena in the House Covid investigation

In a letter to Navarro, Clyburn denied the former Trump aide’s claim to executive privilege.

“It is very clear that you possess information responding to the subpoena that is not covered by any colorful claims of executive privilege,” he wrote to Navarro.

Trump told Navarro last month “to protect executive privilege and not let these relentless Democrats ruin our great achievements” with respect to the House investigation. In his letter Tuesday to the House subcommittee, Navarro called it a “direct, valid and explicit appeal” of the former president’s executive privilege.

Navarro went on to describe the issue as currently “out of [his] hands, ”saying the subcommittee should discuss this with Trump and his advice.

The House subcomittee was set up to investigate the Trump administration’s response to Covid-19, including former president appointees who interfered with reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
