The tight end of Donald Parham Jr’s chargers. shows a positive update about his health as NFL fans remember the frightening moment when Parham Jr. was injured.

The Chargers lost to the Chiefs on Thursday night in overtime, a disappointment when Los Angeles considered several chances to clinch the win with a field goal instead of trying to pass in the fourth down.

On that one occasion, the Chargers could have avoided a dangerous injury that was hard to watch in prime time.

In the first quarter, Justin Herbert targeted Donald Parham Jr. for the touchdown in the endzone. Caught by Parham Jr. the ball, but it bounced out of his hands before he could retain possession and it could be considered a catch. The ball fell, and so did Parham Jr., his head falling to the grass.

Cameras zoomed in as Parham Jr. seemed to express frustration. on the fall, then his arms froze. Parham Jr. suspended his bent arms in the air in front of him as he seemed unconscious. Medical personnel rushed to the field, eventually transporting him away.

On Friday, Ian Rapoport shared an encouraging update on the Chargers ’tight end, saying Parham Jr. was diagnosed with concussion but is now “comfortable and alert.”

#Chargers said TE Donald Parham Jr. remained at UCLA Harbor Medical Center last night and was diagnosed with concussion. He was comfortable and alert, likely to be discharged later today.

Parham Jr. will be sent home today, which was good news when it was not clear on Thursday night how serious Parham Jr.’s injury was.

Joe Buck appears to have ignored Parham Jr.’s injury. – which is clearly the result of some kind of physical trauma – by concluding that it may have been from the cold air.

The way Fox handled Donald Parham Jr.’s injury was really classless! To zoom in on a player who has been knocked out of the cold and then talk about a seizure as if he was shivering at being cold. We all know Joe Buck is the worst but it’s completely nonsense!

While the NFL claims they have improved safety standards to reduce brain trauma, the reality is that football players are still at significant risk for serious brain and spinal cord injuries. Concussions last over time, contributing to the deaths of former players such as Junior Seau, Vincent Jackson, Phillip Adams and Aaron Hernandez. Ryan Shazier was nearly paralyzed from a hit in Dec. 2017, which was why Parham Jr.’s on-field hit. is a frightening reminder of how dangerous the game is.
