Donald Trump will hold a news conference in Florida on January 6th.
Washington, United States:
Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will hold a news conference in Florida on Jan. 6, the anniversary of his supporters ’violent assault on Congress.
The 75-year-old former president said he would discuss the election in November 2020 and repeated his false statement that he defeated Joe Biden.
Trump, in a statement released by a spokesman, also criticized the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
He said the House of Representatives committee of “highly partisan political hacks” should instead investigate the “nigged Presidential Election of 2020.”
“I’m going to have a news conference on January 6th in Mar-a-Lago to discuss all of these points, and more,” Trump said.
“Until then, remember that the insurrection took place on the 3rd of November, it was the completely unarmed rigged election protest that took place on the 6th of January,” he said.
Trump, who lost the 2020 election to Biden by more than seven million votes, has hinted in recent months that he may reclaim the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
Trump was impeach by the Democratic-majority House following the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol but was acquitted by the Republican-controlled Senate.
