Former President Donald Trump said he was ‘extremely grateful’ and ‘surprised’ that President Joe Biden recognized his administration for efforts to make coronavirus vaccines quickly available to Americans.

Biden lifted the Trump administration – which conducted Operation Warp Speed ​​to help some Covid -19 vaccine candidates develop quickly – in his speech Tuesday afternoon on the emerging Omicron variant. Biden said Omicron was ‘serious, potentially deadly business for unvaccinated people’.

‘Let me be clear: Thanks to the previous administration and our scientific community, America was one of the first countries to get the vaccine,’ Biden said.

‘And thanks to my administration and the efforts of Americans, we have led a rollout that has made America the world’s leaders in taking up arms shots.’

Trump, who has often complained that he is not given enough credit for pushing to make the vaccine near the end of his term, expressed gratitude for the mention.

‘I really appreciate that – I was shocked to hear it,’ Trump told Fox News Digital.

Trump added to Biden’s statement: ‘I think it’s a very good thing, and I think it makes a lot of people happy. I think he did something very well.

‘You know, it has to be a healing process in this country, and that will help a lot.’

Biden did not say Trump’s name in those comments, but he said it earlier in his address while urging Americans to take a third dose of coronavirus vaccines.

‘I got my booster shots as soon as they were available. And the other day, former President Trump announced he got his booster shot, ‘Biden said. ‘It might be one of the few things we agreed with him.’

Trump admitted he received a booster shot at the last stop of the tour with former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on Sunday-and he was booed by some of his fans.

O’Reilly told the audience that ‘both the President and I have been vaxxed’, then Trump asked, ‘Did you get the booster?’

‘Yes,’ said Trump, prompting disapproval from some members of the majority.

‘Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t,’ Trump cut in. ‘That’s ok, it’s a very seasonal group there.’

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked at her press briefing Wednesday afternoon if Biden was trying to talk to Americans who don’t want to listen to him, by calling Trump.

‘Well, I think it’s a recognition that the former president sent an important signal to many Americans about the importance of strengthening,’ Psaki replied.

‘We can’t assess what this means, or how people will digest it, or whether it will change their behavior if they are opposed to strengthening or opposed to vaccination.

‘We certainly hope so, and I think it’s a reflection of the president’s belief that the enemy of the American people is the virus, and it shouldn’t be a political battle.’

Psaki noted that Biden’s praise of Trump’s work on vaccines ‘doesn’t mean we won’t call it misinformation’ that they think is ‘damaging’ to the country.

‘We can also call for actions that we think are positive and send a good message to people who may not be waiting for President Biden to tell them what to do,’ Psaki concluded.
