In court filings, Budowich said he testified before the committee on Thursday, only to go home and receive a notice from his bank at 7 p.m. that it was about to turn over documents about his account. The bank apparently denied his pleas to block that from happening, and only gave him until the next afternoon to provide some sort of official documents to prevent it from returning the records, so Budowich sued the court of federal District of Columbia. Budowich’s effort is just the latest last-minute jockeying from Team Trump to try and prevent the committee from obtaining White House documents, phone records, emails, and bank records that could shed light on their involvement by January 6.

Trump sued to prevent the committee from taking internal memos from his last weeks in office, when he actively doubted the results of the 2020 election, and used lawsuits and threats in an attempt to throw out the votes and erase the leadership of Biden.

A federal judge and an appeals panel ruled against Trump, who has now brought that fight to the U.S. Supreme Court.
