Donald J. Smith, Sr.

February 3, 1939 – December 26, 2021

Donald J. Smith, Sr., or to many “Dads,” age 82 of Lewiston, died Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Mount St. Louis. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. Donald was born on February 3, 1939, in Niagara Falls, NY. He was the son of the late George and the late Helen Smith-Witmer. Donald graduated from Lew-Port CSD. He married JoAnn Kneeppel on February 18, 1961. Surviving is his wife, JoAnn Smith (nee Kneepple); their children, Yvonne (George) Maracle, Donald J. (Patti-Jo) Smith, Jr. and Dennis Smith; her grandchildren, Kaila Smith, Dylan (Amanda) Smith, Hailey (Anthony) Marino, Heather (Nana) Obeng-Boampadu; her great -grandchildren, Carmen, Vanessah, Lilly, Michael, Giovanni, Oliver, and Beverly; his brothers, David and Albert Smith, Jerry, and Jim Witmer; some nephews as well. Donald was preceded by several siblings, William, Robert, George, Frank, Evelyn, Dorothy, Helen, and Linda. The visit will be held at Tuscarora Mission, 5035 Walmore Rd., Sanborn, NY 14132, on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM where Rev. Donald Robinson will be the leader. Memorial donations may be made to the Tuscarora Mission, 1964 Mt. Hope Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092.
