49ers receiver Deebo Samuel has yet to meet Aaron Donald, but at least he responded to Who? Who is that? when asked about his relationship (or lack thereof) with the Rams defensive tackle.
No, I’m not being pressured for a conversation, Samuel said on Thursday, via Dalton Johnson of NBCSportsBayArea.com.
Donald, a three -time defensive player of the year, said last year he didn’t know who Samuel was. Samuel responded with 17 catches for 199 yards and a touchdown on a Rams sweep in 2020.
Samuel applauded Donald back on social media afterwards.
I don’t know the man, Samuel said on Thursday. Obviously, he doesn’t know who I am, which he should. I do not know. I don’t just approach people and say, Hey, how are you? I’m Deebo. I’m not that kind of guy or anything.
He’s an opponent, so I don’t know why I want to talk to the guy. I’m not sure. Not something I do.
In the 49ers 31-10 victory over the Rams in Week 10 this season, Samuel had a total of 133 yards and a touchdown. He hasn’t lost to the Rams, where the 49ers went 5-0, and Samuel got 404 yards and scored four touchdowns on 39 touchdowns.
I think Deebo is different when he plays for the Rams, said 49ers tight end George Kittle. There is a bit of disrespect there. I think Deebo is one hell of a football player and people should know who he is and what his name is.
I don’t know if he tries a little extra in these games against the Rams or anything like that, but you can definitely feel his intensity. I think Deebos has done a great job at being consistent in energy week in and week out throughout the season, but I know he will take it and do everything in his power to win this game and hopefully I can see a spicy Deebo.
