Donald Trump’s Truth Social is set to launch on Presidents Day

Former President Donald Trump’s new social media platform Truth Social is expected to launch on Presidents ’Day, Feb. 21, according to the latest Apple App Store listing.

Truth Social, announced by the 45th president in October, is the latest conservative alternative to major social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, which the former president has repeatedly criticized for censorship.

The new app was launched by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and can be preordered before its expected release date.

According to the app store listing, users of the platform can share their “unique opinion by posting a TRUTH, Re-TRUTH, photo, news or video link to interact with your friends, customers, and in the world. ”

“Stay informed about breaking news while staying directly connected to the people who influence you-don’t be surprised if they viralize your TRUTH!” the list can be read.

Users will be able to set up a profile with an avatar as well as follow other users.

Like other social media platforms, Truth Social will feature a “feed” that will contain posts from different users that a person can follow. The app will look very similar on platforms like Twitter, according to the photos uploaded to the list.

At the time of the launch announcement, TMTG announced that the app would launch in beta for “invited guests” in November. At the time, the company described the platform as “America’s ‘Big Tent’ social media platform that encourages open, free, and honest global dialogue without discrimination against political ideology.”

“We live in a world where the Taliban have a huge presence on Twitter, but your favorite President of America has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” Trump said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “I’m excited to send my first TRUTH to TRUTH Social soon.”

Last fall, more than 60 percent of registered Republicans said they plan to use the soon -to -be -released social media platform, according to a Morning Consult/Politico poll. Only 20 percent of Republicans said they don’t plan to use it.

Recently, former Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) Made his early departure from Congress to head the social media company.

“The time has come to reopen the Internet and allow the free flow of ideas and expression without censorship,” Nunes said in December. “The United States of America has made the Internet dream a reality and it is an American company that is restoring that dream. I am humbled and honored that President Trump has asked me to lead the mission and the world class team that will fulfill the this promise. “

The former president called Nunes “a fighter and a leader” who “would make TMTG’s great CEO.”

The release of Truth Social will come more than 13 months after Trump was banned from Facebook and Twitter at the end of the riots in the Capitol on January 6th.

He repeatedly criticized the platforms ’decision to remove him and launched a separate communications outlet titled“ From the Desk of Donald J. Trump ”in May 2021.

A month later, however, the blog closed. At the time, Trump spokesman Jason Miller announced that the move was a “precursor” to the former president joining another social media platform.

TMTG is also expected to release a subscription-based, on-demand video service, TMTG+, which is said to feature “‘ non-woke ’entertainment programming, news, podcasts, and more.”
