Donald M. “Don” Howard, 93, of Marysville, died peacefully Thursday morning, Jan. 6 at Walnut Crossing with his loving and faithful wife, Eileen, holding his hand, and the his family by his side.

He originally worked for North American Aviation as a tool and dye maker before settling as a mechanic at Westreco, then officially retired from Nestle in Marysville. Don loved his community, and he never met a stranger. He previously served as both Mayor and as a member of Marysville City Council. He is also a member of the Union County Shriner Club, the Aladdin Temple, as well as a member and past Master of Palestine Lodge #158 F&AM. He is also a longtime employee of Ingram Funeral Home.

A dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and grandfather, Don enjoyed traveling with his family. He and Eileen used to camp in Myrtle Beach twice a year, and had many fun and exciting trips to Disney World with her grandchildren, a place they and Eileen greatly enjoyed. He will miss his family and friends.

Don was born September 10, 1928 in Marysville to Riley and Susan (Justice) Howard. He was also preceded by his siblings Russell, John, Kathryn and Jim.

He married former Eileen Dennis on January 3, 1946 – they just celebrated 76 years together on Monday. He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen; their children Sue Ann (Don) Wallace of Toledo, Bonnie (John) Stanesic of Cleveland, Tennessee and Sandy (Rick) Liedtke of Marysville; grandchildren, Wendy (Mike) Fedderke, April (Justin) Kozubal, Jenni Abisror, Aaron (Beth) Liedtke, Shelly Stanesic, Nikki Stanesic and Johnny (Dana) Stanesic; 11 great -grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

Because of COVID, private family services will be held along with the funeral at Oakdale Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be announced and held at a later date at Ingram Funeral Home.

In Don’s memory, Shriners Hospitals for Children may contribute to the care of the funeral home (checks made at Shriners Hospitals for Children with Don’s name written on the memo line).
