Donald Trump vowed ‘return’ to Arizona rally and said Capitol rioters were ‘political prisoners’

In anticipation of the large queue of traffic, vendors set up their Trump merchandise stalls up to 10 miles away from the rally site.

Cars and trucks loaded with “Trump 2024” flags and caps, and signs reading “Let’s Go Brandon”, a Republican code for “f — Joe Biden” blew horns in support as they traveled along the desert road to the Country Thunder fairground.

“It’s just a party atmosphere,” said Jonathan Riches, who attended his 40th Trump rally.

“It’s almost like a MAGA Woodstock. It’s patriots from all over the country coming together for the overall good of this country. We love our president.”

Jennifer Winterbauer, who first lined up to enter the rally, said she came to hear the “truth” from Trump.

“He always gives the truth about everything. The economy, the state of the world, the United States,” he said.

In more than an hour of speech, Mr Trump also lobbied for attacks on Mr Biden, saying that under his leadership the US has become “the laughing stock of the world”.

The Biden administration, he said, is “causing confusion in our economy, going crazy over the mandate” and allowing waves of crime to shake U.S. cities.
