The memoir of former AG William Barr will be published on March 8th

NEW YORK Former Attorney General William P. Barr has a memoir to appear on March 8 titled One Damn Thing After Another, and is billed by his publisher as a vivid and straightforward book of his time serving two different presidents, Donald Trump and George HW Bush.

“Barr brought readers behind the scenes to important moments of the Bush administration in the 1990s, from the riots in LA to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra,” announced William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, on Tuesday. In the Trump administration, Barr has dealt with relentless issues, such as Russiagate, the opioid epidemic, Chinese spying, big technology, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the first impeachment, and the fall of the 2020 election.

The title of the long -rumored book refers to an expression Barr heard about the type of work the attorney general does.

Barr, now 71, served under Bush from 1991-93 and under Trump from 2019-2020. Barr was initially one of Trump’s most ardent allies and was accused of being willing to sacrifice Justice Department independence on behalf of the president.

One of his most controversial actions involved special adviser Robert Mueller’s investigation into relations between Russian officials and Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016. Before making the full report public, Barr outlined the results. in a way favorable to Trump, even if Mueller said he couldn’t. acquit the president of obstructing justice.

But Barr broke up with Trump a month after the 2020 election when he told The Associated Press that the DOJ had found no evidence of widespread voter fraud. It contradicts Trump’s false arguments that fraud cost him a career against Democratic candidate Joe Biden. A furious Trump met with Barr shortly after the interview was published on the AP and suspected, “You should have said that because you hate Trump, you should really hate Trump.”

Barr dropped out shortly before Christmas in 2020.

After the Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters seeking to reverse the election results, Barr issued a statement in which he condemned Trump for orchestrating a mob to harass Congress.
