Donald Trump insisted he “said nothing wrong” in a phone call to Georgia’s top election official in which the former president appeared to have forced him to “seek” votes that would undermine Joe Biden’s definite victory in state.
“My phone call to the Georgia Secretary of State was perfect, probably more so than my call to the Ukrainian President, if that were possible,” the former president said in a statement through his spokesman.
“I know there are a large number of people on the line, including a lot of lawyers for both sides,” he said. “Although I assume the call may have been inappropriate, and perhaps illegal, to be recorded, I was not told about it. I said nothing wrong with the call, made when I was president on behalf of the United States of America, to look into the massive voter fraud that took place in Georgia. ”

1642726535Fraud case against Trump? Not a slam dunk, experts say
Lawyers who reviewed the details of the allegations said that while Attorney General Letitia James could file a lawsuit alleging fraud, she would face two major hurdles: proving both intent to defraud and the banks that lent the Trump’s money was really deceived.
“Have you been sloppy, lazy or overly optimistic about your prospects? If you are, that may not be good business, but it doesn’t necessarily escalate into fraud,” said Will Thomas, an assistant professor of business law at the University. of Michigan.
An important question is whether any misrepresentations in the company’s financial statements are “intentional, knowing and intended to be fraudulent,” said David S. Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor who reviewed the evidence for the AP.
It is difficult to prove intent using real estate because it is an illiquid asset whose value, unlike shares sold to the public, is not determined by the various investors who continue to buy and sell, but by the estimates, and often defective ones.
“Even experts who apply the same set of valuation tools can reasonably disagree about the latest valuation,” Thomas said.
