Donald “Eli” Carden, age 78, of Rocky Face, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, TJ and Maxine Worley Carden; brother, Jeff Carden Jr .; and sisters, Katy Carden and Carol Walker.

Mr. Carden was a member of Mt. Vernon UMC, a 1961 graduate of Valley Point High School, where he excelled in sports and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a wonderful man and loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Cole Carden; daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Matt Turso of Dalton, Beth and Rodney Heath of Dalton, Carrie and Greg Brown of Jefferson, GA .; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Tammy Carden of Canton, GA .; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jan and Richard Gragg of Chatsworth, Candi and Michael Childers of Dalton, Deborah Carden of Cartersville, GA .; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Leesa Carden of Calhoun, GA .; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kaye and John Henderson of Atlanta, GA., Gary and Tricia Cole of Dalton, Lamar and Debra Cole of Colorado Springs, CO .; grandchildren, Cam and Stacie Carden, Cory and Emily Carden, Cody and Megan Carden, Colby Carden, Eli, Brayden and Zeke Turso, Grant and Holly Heath, Rylee, Willow and Carden Brown; great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Calvary, Crimson, Keegan, Dominic and Mary Alice Carden. Special nephew, Steven Carden and other loving nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, at 2 pm at Mt. Vernon UMC with Rev. Tac Coley officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12 pm until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, from 5-7 pm at the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Vernon Foster Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Vernon UMC or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
