Long-time allies and MAGA enthusiasts began to turn on former US President Donald Trump after the midterms proved not to materialize into a red wave as many shifted their focus to the likely challenger for the GOP ticket in 2024, Florida Gov Ron DeSantis.
The Rupert Murdoch-owned News Corp empire – which includes Fox News on TV and the New York Post in print – made clear their feelings about Mr Trump with a scathing cover on Thursday morning.
TRUMPTY DUMPTY, read the front page in bold letters as a cartoon of the 45th president showed him appearing as Humpty Dumpty precariously perched on a brick wall.
Elsewhere, a reportedly mercurial Mr. Trump spent the day after the midterm elections lashing out at those he believes gave him bad advice as several of the candidates he endorsed in pivotal races came up short.
Mr Trump is reportedly blaming his wife Melania Trump for advising him to back Mehmet Oz in the Pennsylvania senate race, which he lost to Democrat John Fetterman.
New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted on Wednesday that there are people urging Mr. Trump to reschedule his expected 2024 presidential campaign announcement that is currently expected to occur next week.

Republican leaders and allies are urging former president Donald Trump to delay his 2024 presidential announcement to look at realities on the ground amid setbacks for the GOP in midterm elections.
Mr. Trump has been eager to announce his 2024 presidential race as he sought to capitalize on presumed Republican success in the midterms. But he was stopped by Republican leaders from announcing his candidacy at a rally in Ohio and trailed an announcement on November 15.

1668094247Michael Cohen claims he knows exactly what Trump is up to in DeSantis attacks
Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen took to Twitter on Thursday to provide his post-mortem takeaways from the 2022 midterms.
The midterm takeaway is the current feud between #Trump and #Desantis. I know exactly what Trump is up to (between the name calling and the overt threats) as its exactly what he did in 2016 to eliminate Cruz, Rubio and others. With @nypost not on his side, who will he turn to? tweeted Mr Cohen, while resharing a picture of the New York Posts cover that featured a cartoonish takedown of the former president.

1668092409Paul Ryan: Trump is a drag on the GOP
Republican ex-congressman Paul Ryan, who served as Speaker of the House from 2015 to 2019, has offered his two cents on what the midterm results say about Donald Trumps effect on the GOP and his diagnosis is not flattering:
Mr Ryan was speaker during Mr Trumps first two years in office, but announced his retirement from Congress just before his party lost control of the House in 2018. He has kept a relatively low profile since leaving office, but has criticized Mr Trump publicly on several occasions.

1668090336Trump blasts dishonest media for overegging midterm losses: THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!!!”
Donald Trumps reaction to the midterm results is, per usual, compounded by his fury at the media coverage of what happened. Almost all major outlets, including on the right, are extensively discussing the claim that it was Mr Trumps own behavior and involvement that helped thwart Republicans hopes of a red wave on Tuesday night and which may well have cost them at least one chamber of Congress.
Heres Mr Trumps take as relayed via Truth Social:

1668088847Some Republican lawmakers come out swinging in support of Trump’s bid for 2024
As former president Donald Trump faced an unusual flurry of public condemnation and blame from within the GOP for his party’s poor showing on Tuesday, there were a select number of Republican lawmakers who remained loyal to the ex-president.
I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024, Representative Elise Stefanik, a New York Republican, said in a statement shared with The New York Times. It is time for Republicans to unite around the most popular Republican in America who has a proven track record of conservative governance.
Republican Senate Ohio candidate JD Vance, who noticeably omitted Mr Trump from his victory speech on Tuesday, had similarly kind words for the former president who had graced the Hillbilly Elegy author with an early endorsement.
Every year, the media writes Donald Trump’s political obituary. And every year, they were quickly reminded that Trump remains the most popular figure in the Republican Party, he told The Times in a statement. Representative Jim Banks of Indiana echoed the sentiments of the two Republican lawmakers, saying that he supported the one-term president who transformed our party.

Donald Trump’s Florida resort is under threat from Hurricane Nicole, which is closing in on Florida’s Atlantic shoreline.
The storm is forecast to bring downpours, fierce winds, and a treacherous surge of ocean surf to coastal areas still reeling from the last major storm six weeks ago.
US officials ordered evacuations that included the Mar-a-Lago club, the former presidents club and home that is a quarter-mile inland from the ocean.
Upgraded from a tropical storm to a Category 1 hurricane as it thrashed the Bahamas on Wednesday, Nicole brought sustained winds of up to 75 mph as it approached the east coast of Florida north of Miami, according to the National Hurricane Center.

1668086447Trump urged to delay 2024 announcement amid midterms setbacks for Republican party
His allies are now calling him to delay his planned announcement by next week as the parties full focus needs to be on Georgia, where Trump-backed football great Herschel Walkers effort to unseat Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock advanced to a runoff – that could determine control of the Senate once again.
Georgia needs to be the focus of every Republican in the country right now, said former Trump adviser Jason Miller, who spent the night with the former president at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. Im not alone when I say President Trumps best moves are to put all his efforts to get Herschel Walker elected.

1668085247Pence says Trump told him he was too honest when he said he didn’t have power to overturn election
Donald Trump told Mike Pence he was being too honest when the former vice president said he didn’t have the power to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory amid intense pressure, he wrote in his memoir.
Youre too honest, Mr Pence recalled Mr Trump told him in early January 2021. Hundreds of thousands are gonna hate your guts. People are gonna think you’re stupid.
The newly unearthed details are provided from Mr Pences first-hand extensive account of his exchanges with Mr Trump after the election and during the 6 January riots on Capitol in a new memoir, titled So Help Me God.
At one point, Mr Pence wrote that the then-president said his supporters would hate his guts and urged him not to wimp out to go down as a figure in history.

1668084107Rupert Murdoch-owned New York Post goes after Trump in scathing cover: TRUMPTY DUMPITY’
Long-time allies and MAGA enthusiasts began to turn on former US President Donald Trump on Wednesday morning, as some Fox News pundits even began to shift their focus to the likely challenger for the GOP ticket in 2024, Gov Ron DeSantis.
I think he needs to put it on pause, said former press secretary for Mr Trump, Kayleigh McEnany, who now works for Fox News, advised on air that Mr Trump should hold off on an announcement until after the Georgia Senate runoff.
In a more stunning about-face, the Rupert Murdoch-owned News Corp empire – which includes Fox News on TV and the New York Post in print – made clear their feelings about Mr Trump with a scathing cover on Thursday morning.
TRUMPTY DUMPTY, read the front page in bold, block letters as a cartoon of the 45th president showed him appearing as Humpty Dumpty precariously perched on a brick wall.
Don (who couldn’t build a great wall) had a great fall – can all the GOP’s men put the party back together again? the caption to the front page caricature read, hinting at a near flatout rejection that the news outlet believes the one-term president could pull off a second term in 2024.

1668082695Trump fumes on Truth Social that the fake news media is the enemy of the people’
Conceding late on Wednesday night that he was indeed somewhat disappointed by the Republicans showing the 2022 midterms, former President Donald Trump wouldn’t go as far to characterize the Tuesday night election as a total loss for his party. From my personal standpoint it was a very big victory – 219 WINS and 16 Losses in the General – Who has ever done better than that?
Later, he took to lambasting news outlets who had begun to fire off reports that pushed back against the ex-presidents narrative, calling the failure of the so-called red wave to materialize a sign of the writing being on the wall for Mr Trumps brand of MAGA politics.
Incredible how dishonest the Fake News Media is. The Failing New York Times has gone crazy. So many of the people I endorsed went on to victory on Tuesday Night, nobody was even close, and they literally made up a story refusing to write the facts, and only quoting enemies and losers, vented the former president on Truth Social late Wednesday. if you read the story from two Trump hating writers (who only do as they are told!), you would not even recognize the truth. They truly are, THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!!!
He later added: 219 WINS against 16 LOSSES IN THE GENERAL ELECTION, and yet the Fake News writes only unrecognizable junk. No wonder they are all doing sooo badly!
