Former President Donald Trump has no plans to appeal to the Supreme Court a lower court order ending a special master’s review of classified documents seized from his Mar-a-Lago estate, according to reports.
The Department of Justice must now continue its criminal investigation into the matter. Prosecutors for the department are also urging a judge to hold Mr Trumps team in contempt of court for not fully complying with a subpoena to turn over all the documents at the center of the scandal earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Mr Trump has slammed the hostage swap deal that returned WNBA star Brittney Griner from Russia in exchange for arms dealer Viktor Bout. The former president denied that the deal did not include fellow American Paul Whelan who was jailed during Mr Trump’s presidency.
These latest developments come in a week of political and legal blows for Mr Trump, who has seen his company found guilty of tax fraud; the possibility of a criminal referral over the Capitol riot; additional classified documents were found in his possession; and his Georgia Senate candidate who lost the runoff election.

Former President Donald Trump criticized the prisoner swap deal that freed WNBA star Brittney Griner from Russia in exchange for arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Mr Trump posted: What kind of deal is trading Brittney Griner, a basketball player who openly hates our Country, for the man known as The Merchant of Death, who is one of the biggest arms dealers anywhere on Earth, and is responsible for thousands of deaths and horrific injuries. Why was ex-Marine Paul Whelan not included in this completely one-sided transaction? He was about to be taken out to ask questions. A stupid and unpatriotic disgrace for the USA!!!
