Donald Trump criticized Jewish leaders for not showing enough “honesty” to him after his dinner with two antisemitic Holocaust deniers at his Mar-a-Lago home.
“Jewish Leaders have forgotten that I am the best, ever, President for Israel,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Friday. “They should be ashamed of themselves. Disloyalty to their greatest friends and allies is why large numbers in Congress, and many others, have stopped supporting Israel.
Trump included a link to an article by conservative commentator Wayne Root in his post. Root praised Trump’s record on American-Israeli policy, and falsely accused former President Barack Obama of having close ties to antisemites.
This is not the first time Trump has publicly demanded loyalty and gratitude from Jewish leaders and the community. In a December 2021 interview, the former president raised antisemitic tropes accusing Jews of having dual loyalties to Israel and the United States, suggesting they control Washington, DC, and the media. In October, Trump wrote in Truth Social that American Jews need to “come together” and be more respectful in his work on Israeli policy.
In late November, Trump dined with artist Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) at his Palm Beach estate. You invited renowned Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes to dinner. Following widespread backlash at the event, Trump refused to issue an outright condemnation of Fuentes and his views, instead denying any knowledge of who he was. Rolling Stone reported earlier this week that Jewish allies were “begging” Trump to condemn Ye, but he refused. Trending
Since the dinner, Ye and Fuentes have gone on a right-wing media tour steeped in antisemitism. The pair appeared on the Alex Jones show, with Ye repeatedly expressing his love for Hitler and the Nazis, denying the Holocaust, and attacking Jews. In a subsequent interview with Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, Ye said that “Jews should work for Christians,” and that he would “hire a Jew in a second if I knew I wouldn’t they are a spy and I can check their phone.”
Trump hosted Ye at his home days before the appearances, and after Ye expressed antisemitic views on social media and during a conversation with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson. Jewish leaders, however, should be “ashamed,” according to the former president.
