Donald Don Ray Rose, 61, of Core, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. Donald was born in Morgantown on January 3, 1961, to Donald Sr. and Jane Rose.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kim Rose; daughter, Amber Rose-Thorne (Justin), of Morgantown; son, Travis (Stacey) Rose, of Core; a brother, Gary Rose, of Fairmont; and his beloved grandchildren, Landen and Zoey Thorne and Dayton and Cason Rose.
Donnie, as he was known to most of his friends and family, began his career as an auto mechanic but retired as a surface electrician/fan attendant in the mines. He served for more than 40 years. He was a proud member of the UMWA and attended the Jakes Run Assembly of God.
He can often be found at his grandchildren’s sporting events, sitting quietly but keeping up the stats like a proud pap would. He couldn’t be prouder of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and his loving mother-in-law, Thelma (Jean) McCabe. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 2 pm until the time of service at 5 pm on Saturday , December 17 with Pastor Rob Bennett officiating. Cremation will be followed by a private inurnment ceremony at a later date. Services will be streamed live at www.fredjenkinsfuneralhome.com.
