Donald Trump Supporters Upset at NFT Announcement: It’s a ‘Turn Off’

Former President Donald Trump was mercilessly mocked at his “major announcement” this week, even as his supporters expressed disappointment about the NFT unveiling.

“This is not good. We’re facing a threat to civilization from far left Marxist extremists. Teasing NFT cards as a major announcement is not the kind of fight people want to see today. These are dark times. Love the guy but this turns out many are not,” tweeted Robby Starbuck, GOP congressional candidate for Tennessee’s 5th district.

On Thursday, Trump announced that his “major announcement” was that he was releasing a set of limited edition digital cards priced at $99 each. He describes them as “similar to a baseball card, but hopefully more exciting.”

But while the former president seemed enthusiastic about NFTs, many of his supporters took to social media to describe feeling cheated by Trump’s announcement.

“I’m feeling betrayed by Trump today. What a let down,” @luckycharmz44 wrote. “Trading cards? Really?”

Daniel Bostic, who previously served as a congressional aide, called the announcement “a slap in the face to Trump’s base” who he said is “expecting a run for speaker, a VP announcement, action on J6 prisoners, lawsuits, ANY real action. .”

“Instead he’s peddling NFTs,” Bostic tweeted. “DeSantis is up 3 points today.”

Some of Trump’s supporters said the announcement was enough to push them toward Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has emerged as a leading contender for the 2024 GOP nomination against Trump. DeSantis has not officially launched a presidential bid.

“So, this is seriously Trump’s big announcement. What a huge disappointment. I’ve been holding back my doubts about Trump for a long time, but I think this might be the final nail in the coffin. I’m going to the DeSantis team now,” Wrote @1EaglePatriot.

“It’s time for Trump to get back at DeSantis,” said @creditannie. “This proves it for me – love him, appreciate everything he’s done, but it’s time to step aside and help us get behind someone we can support.”

Many began speculating about what Trump’s “major announcement” would be after the former president teased Thursday’s unveiling at Wednesday’s Truth Social. Some hope he will announce his choice of running mate or give an update on his 2024 campaign.

On Thursday, Lavern Spicer, Republican congressional candidate for Florida’s 24th district, said while she is a big fan of Trump, “I need more than this from the leading candidate for President for 2024. Don’t play with our emotions.”

“I am a Trump fan, but the big reveal was very disappointing. It has no substantial substance of being reelected president,” @jackie_mcmillon echoed. “I am concerned that Trump, although successful on many levels, has a lot of baggage. Our country is under siege by such evil and evil that we must choose wisely.”
