Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday 10:30 AM at St. Catherine Laboure Church in Lake Katrine.

Inurnment will follow at Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.

Donald F. Brott, 73, died Sunday December 18, 2022 at Westchester Medical Center with his family by his side. Born January 3, 1949 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Russell F. and Katherine (Shiels) Brott. Don was raised and lived in Lake Katrine all his life.

Don worked most of his career as a civil engineer for the NYS DOT and the New York State Thruway Authority. After his retirement, he consulted with Brinier and Larios, PC in Kingston. Active in his community, Don joined the Ulster Hose Co. 5 in 1966, served in many capacities and offices including Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, and served on the Board of Directors. He was the Clerk of the Works and was instrumental in overseeing the expansion project at the Ulster Hose Co. 5 Headquarters. Don also served on the Ulster Town Planning Board from 1996-2004, and was Chair of the Board from 1999-2003. Don is also a member of St. Catherine Laboure Church, a senior member of the Ruby Rod & Gun Club and former member of the Twaalfskil Country Club. Don was a die hard Yankees fan and enjoyed several side hobbies which included hunting, fishing, golfing and especially his love of woodworking. But most of all, Don enjoyed traveling to watch all of his grandchildren’s sporting activities.

Surviving are his wife Karen Brott, a daughter Kelly A. Davis and her husband Joseph, a son Jason Brott and his wife Jessica. Grandchildren, Tanner, Lauren, Mackenzie and Chase. Brother and sister-in-law Edward Norton and his wife Laura, niece Julie Stavropoulos, nephew Michael Norton, close family friend Cindy Gotta and a list of longtime friends.
