After 50 years, Journey will let Trump destroy the band?

Insert Foot picks Neal Schon’s side as he laments the possible end of Journey.

Merry Christmas. Travel is dead.

I don’t want to spoil Jesus’ birthday for the fans, but Jonathan Cain has attached himself to Donald Trump’s flaming orange Hindenburg, and Neal Schon the other important person in the band is not having this.

I wrote this because I live in the Bay Area, Journey is a Bay Area band, I wore Journey shirts in the eighth grade, and Journey and I are both old and don’t listen to modern music unless our son made us. Then we pretend to be related, go back to our room, and watch Netflix alone in the dark, crying softly.

Journey guitarist Neil Schon, who is married to Michaele Salahi, who famously walked into an Obama state dinner with the last man she married, hates keyboardist Cain, whose wife is Paula White- Cain, Trump’s former spiritual advisor.

Uh huh. My deep intelligence and sharp intelligence (11/12ths of a political science degree at a community college) wisely calculated how this plays out: After nearly 50 years in existence, Donald Trump could be the last nail in the Journey coffin.

Schon recently filed a cease-and-desist order against Cain, to prevent him from using Journeys’ music at Trump rallies. Cain allegedly performed Dont Stop Believing at a Trump event because I don’t know. He’s a 72 year old white guy with a soul patch? Unimportant. He is clearly a lunatic who worships Trump and is trying to be his generation’s Mike Love.

Cain, meanwhile, blames Schon for hurting Journey’s brand with his history of suing everyone who breathes and his own strange behavior related to his wife.

All this is really bad. Anyone else feeling a little sick to their stomach? I mean, besides Steve Perry?

Honestly, Perry is probably enjoying it, he’s off Journey and knows he doesn’t need any of it because he’s smart enough to slap Oh Sherrie on a single record and can live a long life without have to share a penny with the rest. his former bandmates. Although he still has to revive the Christmas record he made last year.

So a couple of aging rock stars are lobbing verbal bombs at each other. It’s Christmas and you’re trying to open presents and figure out how much money you’ll get from all those returns tomorrow. Who cares?

Well we do. Because we live in the Bay Area. Legally we must take care of Travel; Like we have to vote for Carlos Santana in all the best guitarist polls. How else can we pretend to keep up with cool places?

For all its wild successes, Journey has always proven resilient, through breakups, lawsuits, backstabbing, warring factions and money fights. The band replaced two lead singers (three, technically), the latter with a guy from an overseas tribute band they saw on YouTube and still playing arenas? Forget about Keith Richards; Journey will be the band that survives the nuclear holocaust.

But no one accounted for the Florida orangebomb. And someone sided with Journey about the big divider.

Schon and Cain also fight over one of them allegedly charging the bands credit card for bad clothes or soul patch maintenance or something trivial. They would have survived. But not now.

Everyone has the right to make stupid choices. But I’m also pissed, am I Schon? Trump germs infect everything around them. He leaves Cheetos dust everywhere. He makes every person he comes in contact with worse by association. People are losing friends and not spending holidays with family because of Trump.

Now we can add a Bay Area musical giant to the list. Even throw enough money at them for a few years and see what happens. Hopefully there are better things about which to argue through then.
