The January 6 special committee on Wednesday decided to withdraw its subpoena to former President Trump as it finishes its work.
Trump’s testimony is unnecessary, according to the panel’s chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS).
Thompson said in a letter to Trump’s lawyers: “In light of the imminent conclusion of our investigation, the Select Committee can no longer pursue the specific information covered by the subpoena.”

He added, “Therefore, by this letter, I am formally withdrawing the subpoena issued to former President Trump, and will notify you that he is no longer obligated to comply with or produce records in response to said subpoena.”

Trump took to his social media platform to share the following message:
MEDIA NOT READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO DONALD TRUMP: ARI FLEISCHER
“Just been advised that the Unselect Committee of political Thugs revoked the Subpoena on me regarding the January 6th Protest of the CROOKED 2020 Presidential Election. They probably did that because they knew I did nothing wrong, or they will soon lose in Court. Perhaps the FBI’s involvement in Election RIGGING played into their decision. In any case, the Subpoena is DEAD!”

Trump was first subpoenaed by the committee in October for testimony and documents about the protests at the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.
