Donald Trump is suing for $10M over the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick

A woman representing the estate of Brian Sicknick has filed a $10 million lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, alleging that the fallen US Capitol official from Middlesex County died as a result of his words, actions and inactions of presidents.

Sitting in the White House, Defendant Trump did nothing to prevent (the Jan. 6 riots), and instead encouraged the mobs to continue the violence, said the lawsuit, filed Thursday in Federal District Court for the District of Columbia , on the eve of the two-year anniversary of the attack.

A spokesman for Trump did not immediately respond Friday to a request for comment on the suit.

Sicknick, 42, who is from South River, died of a series of strokes a day after he tried to stop rioters from entering the Capitol, according to the lawsuit, filed by Sicknicks longtime partner, Sandra Garza.

A medical examiner determined that Sicknick died of natural causes, and further stated that the events of Jan. 6, 2021, played a significant role in the medical issues that led to his death, according to the lawsuit.

The 47-page suit, which alleges wrongful death and conspiracy to violate civil rights, accuses Trump of inciting the two men, Julian Khater, of Somerset, and George Tanios, of West Virginia, to commit the acts which led to the death of the Sicknicks.

Khater pleaded guilty on Aug. 26, 2022, to assault, resisting or obstructing officers by using bear spray, the suit said. Tanios pleaded guilty on July 20, 2022, to entering and remaining in a restricted building or premises.

In his guilty plea, Tanios admitted that he bought and brought the bear spray that Khater used on Sicknick, the lawsuit said.

Under the plea agreement, Khater faces 6 to 8 years in prison. Tanios’ plea agreement calls for up to six months in prison, the lawsuit said.

Before directing the mob to the US Capitol, Defendant Trump ordered them to fight like hell and declared that you are allowed to go by other rules and you have to show strength, the suit says. Trump intended to take these words literally.

The lawsuit accuses Trump of deliberately trying to undermine the 2020 election, tweeting to millions of followers that voting results were rigged, mail-in ballots being printed in foreign countries and accusing the Democrats trying to steal the election.

The lawsuit alleges that Trump knew that his actions before and on January 6, 2021, promoted and encouraged mobs to violently attack the Capitol building.

Officer Sicknicks’ death was a reasonable and foreseeable consequence of (Trumps) deliberate words and actions, the suit says.

In addition to Sicknick, 35-year-old Ashli ​​Babbit died on Jan. 6, 2021, when a Capitol police officer shot him after he joined a mob that gained access to a hallway outside the Speakers Lobby, leading to the Chamber of the US House of Representatives.

The police lieutenant who shot Babbit has been cleared of any wrongdoing, according to the US Department of Justice.
