January 6th Committee Releases Texts Between Hope Hicks and Julie Radford

In messages sent between the two women that day, Hicks expressed her concerns for her job due to Trump’s unpredictable and erratic behavior and the violent riots that were occurring at the same time.

“In one day he ended every future opportunity that did not include speaking engagements with the local chapter of the proud man,” Hicks said, apparently referring to Trump. Radford replied, “Yes.”

When chatting with Redford, Hicks also apparently mentioned Alyssa Farah Griffin (Trump’s former communications director who resigned from the White House in December 2020) writing that she “sounds like a genius.”

Hicks also texted Radford about the resignation of Stephanie Grisham (she served as former first lady Melania Trump’s chief of staff) when the Capitol attack occurred, and Radford apparently criticized the move, which it was considered “self-serving.”

This text exchange between Hicks and Radford, NBC News reports, “was included in the release of documents after the committee released its formal report late last month.” In its report, the committee detailed more evidence that “Trump oversaw a multipart effort to overturn the results of an election he knew he had lost, culminating in his supporters storming the Capitol on January 6 in a push to block the electoral count of votes that would have confirmed Joe Biden’s victory,” the outlet noted.
