Since Donald Trump began his third presidential bid in November, several high-profile evangelical leaders and activists have signaled that they want a new standard-bearer to lead the Republican Party in 2024. The lesson of this midterm is simple and clear: The endorsements of Mr. Trumps has hindered rather than helped the hoped-for red wave, and his petty selfishness will likely lead to another series of runoff losses in the coming days, Piper wrote in a midterm autopsy. The take home this past week was simple: Donald Trump has to go. If he is our nominee in 2024, we will be devastated.

Trump, however, has blamed the GOP’s latest election failures at the feet of evangelical leaders. I was a little disappointed because I thought they could have fought harder during the election, he told Real Americas Voice. Many of them didn’t fight or didn’t really have anything to fight for, and that emboldened the Democrats.
