Report: Trump Begs Facebook To Bring Him Back

January 6, 2021, was undoubtedly one of the worst days in the history of the United States, but one bright point that came out of it was that it resulted in the banning and suspension of Donald Trump from Twitter and Facebook, both of which used to terrorize the country on an hourly basis and won the 2016 election. Unfortunately, that two-year reprieve may not last long.

While Twitter boss Elon Musk reinstated Trumps account in November thanks to the new owners laissez-faire approach to hate speech and history of doing terrible things Facebook parent company Meta suspended the former president for two years, after which it will review the situation. Those two years ended on January 7, 2023, and the ex-boyfriend was, unsurprisingly, getting restless.

NBC News reported that the Trumps 2024 campaign sent a letter to Meta on Tuesday in which it wrote: We believe the banning of President Trumps Facebook account has dramatically distorted and inhibited public discourse. It reportedly went on to talk about conservatives’ favorite topic of free speech that they don’t really understand and requested a meeting to discuss President Trump’s immediate return to the platform.

On the day Facebook suspended Trumps account, CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote: The shocking events of the past 24 hours make it clear that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and legal transfer of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden, adding that Trump’s decision to use his platform to convince rather than condemn the actions of his supporters in the Capitol building was rightly disturbing to people in the US and around the world. Zuckerberg also said that the company removed these statements yesterday because we judged that their effect and likely their goal was to incite more violence.

And while there’s no reason to believe Trump has changed in any way and won’t use Facebook to do the exact same thing if he loses in 2024, an adviser told NBC the campaign expects Facebook to lift the two-year ban and reinstate the former president (A Meta spokesperson said the company will announce a decision in the coming weeks in accordance with the process we’ve laid out.) And if Trump isn’t let go? It is better that his henchmen in Congress are ready to go to battle on his behalf.

As for Trumps return to Twitter, which is complicated by the fact that he owns a crappier version of the site called Truth Social, a source familiar with the matter told NBC News, Trump is likely to return to Twitter. The only question is how and when. Another said the ex-husband had been soliciting input for weeks about returning to Twitter, adding that his campaign advisers were also workshopping ideas for his first tweet. Which we assume involves mocking poorly photoshopped pictures of him and asking each other, Which is better: Your favorite president is back or I bet you miss your favorite president?
