ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The former lieutenant governor of Georgia, now an on-air commentator on CNN, says Fulton County DA Fani Willis has enough evidence to indict former President Donald Trump for his alleged role in meddling in the results of the states 2020 presidential election.

Duncans comments come as Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney continues to consider whether a grand jury report on alleged 2020 Georgia presidential election interference should be made public.

Trump has accused Willis of conducting an extreme political witch hunt as he conducts an investigation into alleged election meddling in the 2020 presidential vote count.

Last year, Willis opened a criminal investigation into attempts to influence the administration of the 2020 Georgia General Election. A special grand jury with subpoena powers was empaneled in May at his request. In court filings last month, he alleged a multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump Campaign to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.

Trump also defended his now-famous phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger a few days after the last presidential election.

In June, Raffensperger told a congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol that Trump’s claims about fraud in the 2020 election were false.

Georgia’s secretary of state, along with Gabriel Sterling, the office’s chief operating officer, appeared before the Democrat-led House Select Committee as the commission continued its round of nationally televised public hearings.

Raffensperger told the committee that the Nov. 6, 2020 went very well, with the average wait time to cast a ballot between two and three minutes across the state.

In a hearing earlier this week, Willis urged that the grand jury report be withheld to ensure that all future defendants are treated fairly and that decisions on indictments are forthcoming.

The grand jury handed down its report on Willis last month. Willis and his team said it was risky to release the report early.

“We think that going before the district attorney right away even had a chance to address the public if there were no charges, because there wasn’t enough time to review it, was dangerous,” said Donald Wakeford, Chief Senior District Attorney.

Willis said the grand jury heard from 75 witnesses. While his office claimed that protecting the rights of future defendants constituted secrecy, media representatives argued that the report was of great public interest and that the law required its release.

It has to be significant, identifiable evidence that would cause a problem, said Thomas Clyde, the attorney representing the news outlets. Anthony Kreis, a constitutional law professor at Georgia State University, thought the judge was somewhat skeptical of prosecutors’ arguments. He believes Georgia law is clear that the report is a public document.
