Donald Trump has now claimed Ron DeSantis tearfully pleaded for his endorsement in the 2018 Florida governors race, marking the former presidents latest attack on a potential 2024 GOP rival.
Speaking on The Hugh Hewitt Show podcast on Thursday, Mr Trump sought to take credit for Mr DeSantis’ 2018 gubernatorial win, saying his chances were dead until he pledged his support.
He’s dead, he’s leaving the race. He came over and he begged me, begged me, for an endorsement. He was getting ready to drop out, he said.
Tears fell from his eyes. He said: If you endorse me, Ill win. So I ended up doing it, and he won.
The former president, who announced his bid in November, also stepped up his attacks on other potential Republican rivals, calling Nikki Haley overly ambitious.
While Mr DeSantis has yet to announce a 2024 presidential bid to take on Mr Trump, former South Carolina governor Ms Haley is expected to formally launch her run on February 15. That would make her the first Republican to publicly confirmed that he is challenging Mr Trump.

1675423800Hunter Biden pushed back against Trumps laptop from allies in hell
In a series of letters to the Justice Department, the Delaware attorney generals office, the IRS, and others, the president’s son called for the investigation of individuals such as former New York mayor and Trump ally Rudy Giuliani , as well as conservative agitator Steve Bannon, for their role in spreading the story of the laptop, which was seized by the president’s political opponents. Ted Goodman, an adviser to Mr Giuliani, said the laptop became abandoned property when Mr Biden reportedly left it at the repair shop.
Raising concerns now, years later, indicates just how damaging the texts and videos from Hunters laptop are, he wrote in an emailed statement to The Independent. The laptop revealed the 30-year corruption of the Biden crime family, led by boss Joe Biden. More details in our full story.

1675422003ICYMI: GOP congressman compares TV provider dropping Newsmax to Holocaust
When Republican members of the House of Representatives took to the floor of their chamber on Tuesday for an hour-long airing of grievances in support of a GOP-friendly cable news channel, one of them decided it was appropriate to compare the satellite television carriage controversy over the killing of six million Jews in the Holocaust.
Eric Burlison, a freshman representative who was sworn in as a House member for Missouris 7th District less than a month ago, initially compared DirecTVs decision to stop carrying the right-wing Newsmax channel to an aborted effort by the Department of Homeland Security to combat disinformation, and suggested that the satellite television provider was abusing the special privileges granted to it by the government.

In a video released on his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, Mr Trump said: On day one I will roll back Joe Biden’s draconian policies that offer so-called gender affirming care.

1675414800 Is Donald Trump encouraging supporters for another violent attack?
Donald Trump has been criticized for intensifying calls for his supporters to lock and load and physically fight the Republican party front-runners for the 2024 presidential elections.
Mr Trump, who actively uses his own social media platform Truth Social after he was blocked on Twitter, reposted a supporter’s message that appeared to suggest violence.
Then they have to figure out how to fight 80,000,000 + it won’t happen again. People my age and older will physically fight for him this time, a Truth Social post from the username @freeTX1776 read.
What do we have to lose? I would give the rest of my time on this planet to do this. And I know many others feel the same way. They got my 6 and we were LOCKED and LOADED.

1675413003ICYMI: Looking back at the wildest moments from Trump and others at the State of the Union address
The State of the Union is one of the most choreographed events in American politics. We all know the drill: The president walks into the House chamber, shakes hands several times, takes his place in front of the vice president and speaker of the House, and prepares a careful speech. Overall, it was a pretty quiet affair.
But there are moments that come out. Every once in a while (or more often in the Trump years), something happens that is so weird, unscripted, or just plain uncomfortable, that it manages to transcend tedium and become memorable. Below, starting with the most recent, are some of those moments.
Nathan Place and Gustaf Kilander report.

1675411185ICYMI: Pelosi backs Trump impeachment leader Schiff in Senate race
Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi endorsed fellow Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff on Thursday in his 2024 bid for the seat now held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, where the longtime incumbent is not seeking a seventh term.
The public blessing of the Schiffs’ candidacy, although conditional, is significant. Feinstein said she will make a decision about her future in the next few months. But Pelosis’ announcement represents the strongest signal to date that the unlikely Feinstein, at age 89 the oldest member of Congress, will run again.
The endorsement gives the Southern California congressman the support of one of the most powerful Democrats in the country in what is expected to be a highly contested race, and signals to Pelosis’ vast donor network that he is her choice for the job.
Neighbors in San Francisco, Pelosi and Feinstein are personally close and have worked together for decades in Washington, suggesting her decision to back Schiff early in the campaign included a sneaky nod from the senator. .
