Trump envisioned the deal to let Russia occupy parts of Ukraine

Donald Trump has spent months arguing that he knows how to negotiate a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours. He even boasted that it would be easy to end the crisis. How? Through a secret deal that the former president is reluctant to discuss.

About a month ago, the Republican said there were things he could say to Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin that he could guarantee would end the war immediately. Just like? He won’t say. All of this set the stage for this week, when the former president added fresh insights to his vision. The Daily Beast reported:

In a radio interview with Fox News host (and longtime confidante) Sean Hannity on Monday, the twice-impeached former president finally revealed how he personally would have stopped the war. According to Trump, all he has to do is let Russia occupy parts of Ukraine.

As part of an on-air interview, the former president congratulated himself on the fact that Russia did not attack its neighbors during his term in the White House. Trump quickly added, Thats without even negotiating a deal. I would have negotiated. At worst, I can make a deal to get something, there are some Russian-speaking places, actually, but you can make a deal.

As it turns out, Hannity aired parts of this interview on his Fox News program hours later, but these comments were removed from the television broadcast.

However, this is perhaps the most important point that Trump has raised to date: In his view, the solution to the crisis is to let Russia occupy parts of Ukraine. The Republican seems to see such a strategy as plausible, since there are Russian-speaking areas in Ukraine.
