Mary Trump Predicts What Donald Trump Will Do If He Loses Again

[ad_1]

Mary Trump, the niece of former President Donald Trump, recently predicted what her uncle might do if he loses another presidential election—expecting a response in 2024 similar to the one he received after losing the election in 2020 to his Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden.

Donald Trump is currently seen as the frontrunner in the field of GOP candidates who have already announced their presidential ambitions in 2024. However, other big Republican names, such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, have not yet publicly announced their intentions. Even if Trump were to recapture the Republican nomination, it’s unclear how he would fare in the general election against a Democratic rival, which could end up in a rematch with Biden.

“Voter suppression seems to be a new phenomenon and it’s obviously convincing people that the election was stolen from them, that the election results are illegitimate, and I’m sure Donald is telling those people that if he loses in 2024 — which he will — that it’s stolen from them again and he’s going to call for another insurrection,” Mary Trump, a staunch critic of the former president, said on her podcast Thursday. He previously predicted that his uncle would be chosen as the GOP presidential nominee.

As Mary Trump noted, the former Republican president never admitted his defeat to Biden in 2020. Instead, he continued to insist that the previous presidential election was rigged and fraudulent. The evidence does not support those claims, and dozens of state and federal courts have continued to rule against election challenges by Donald Trump and his supporters.

Some polls and surveys show that Trump’s popularity has weakened among Republicans amid local and federal investigations launched against him since he left office. This includes a federal investigation looking into his alleged involvement in the events surrounding the riots at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, when his supporters stormed the federal legislative building in an apparent effort to block formal certification of the 2020 election results.

The attack on the Capitol came after Trump’s “fight like hell” speech, in which he told many of his supporters that they would not “have a country” if Biden were to win. Mary Trump believes her uncle will act the same way again if he loses.

The former president repeatedly promoted baseless claims of voter fraud. He insisted the election was “stolen” from him, a charge Mary Trump believes she could tout again if she loses. But Donald Trump may not even win the 2024 GOP nomination, as some Republicans have expressed interest in other potential candidates, with DeSantis emerging as a strong challenger.

Earlier this month, a poll showed that Donald Trump would lose in a hypothetical 2024 rematch against President Joe Biden. A new poll by Echelon Insights showed Biden beating Trump 47 percent to the former president’s 44 percent. The same survey showed DeSantis beating Biden in a head-to-head contest.

Some have raised alarms about how Donald Trump will react if he loses another presidential election. Fox News co-host Geraldo Rivera warned last week that the former president’s re-election campaign poses a threat to the country’s democratic system if he does not win.

“The danger of Donald Trump running for president is not if he wins (he was not a terrible president and until his coup attempt he was still underrated). The danger to America comes if he loses again Trump. Stopped twice by the system, what the hell can he do?” Rivera tweeted.

Trump currently faces three other Republican challengers who have announced their presidential bids. These include Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, entrepreneur and conservative activist Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Montana Secretary of State Corey Stapleton.
