Trump posted three new videos attacking DeSantis as major tensions with the president boiled over

Former President Trump posted three videos directly attacking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his potential 2024 GOP presidential rival, on Wednesday on his social media platform.

While the former president’s videos largely echo his previous criticisms of the governor, this is the first time Trump has released videos attacking DeSantis since the start of the campaign — and he posted three of them consecutively.

A video hits DeSantis on his past votes on cutting or restructuring ethanol subsidies, an issue of particular importance to Iowa corn producers; another criticizes DeSantis for his past votes on privatizing Social Security; and another chides him for falling behind Trump in the public polls.

Trump was angered by the perceived disloyalty for DeSantis, a former staunch Trump supporter who won the then-president’s endorsement in his gubernatorial primary, an endorsement that helped him win his primary despite of being a significant underdog. It’s a theme he mentioned on the trail and in an interview with Fox News this week.

“We rallied for him, we did everything for him. I like loyal people. When you help somebody you expect that there’ll be a certain amount of dignity and loyalty. We didn’t get that from Ron, but that’s okay because we’re going to beat him and we’re going to be in a very bad situation where we’re going to win the presidency,” Trump said in a video.

And in another, he blasted DeSantis by name-checking the party’s former House speaker and 2012 presidential nominee-turned Utah senator:

“He’s a disciple of Paul Ryan. He’s a lover of Mitt Romney,” Trump added.
