Stossel TV Studio is just a block from Trump Tower.
Today, noisy helicopters hover, and sidewalks are pointlessly blocked by the usual political/media excess: too many barricades manned by too many impatient policemen.
The predicted big demonstration! and the possible violence is invisible.
Donald Trump left for the courthouse around 1 pm to turn himself in. He was booked and fingerprinted at the courthouse. He later pleaded not guilty to a 34-count charge of falsifying records to hide hush money payments.
Presidents should not be above the law, but neither should they face politically charged cases.
Manhattan district attorneys campaigned in opposition to Trump, bragging, I’ve sued Trump over a hundred times!
He suggested that he would be the best choice to get Trump before he could see the evidence. That’s just wrong. Federal prosecutors saw the evidence and decided not to charge Trump.
Using campaign funds to pay someone to keep quiet about sex might violate the rules, but most campaign finance rules are useless, and no serious person thinks this case is will be brought against anyone but Trump.
It’s a slippery slope to a banana republic.
On the other hand, Trump is definitely a terrible person.
In his real estate business, he defrauded the little people, cleverly using our slow and expensive justice system to avoid paying what he owed.
As a president, he is not a president and is like a child. He is vain, selfish and evil. He doesn’t read or listen to advice from wise people, and he tells lies over and over again. I am angry with him.
But it would be better for America if he were the president now, instead of Joe Biden.
Nothing is more important to more people, especially the poor, than a solid dollar and a growing economy.
Trumps presidency has brought us closer to that than the Democrats are today.
Trump knows how government can kill growth. He criticized the job-crushing regulations, saying he would eliminate two of them for every new one passed. He didn’t, but he repealed some big things: allowing more oil drilling, reducing the Environmental Protection Agency’s power to regulate navigable waterways, ending the Barack Obama’s regulations forcing automakers to make greener cars (Biden reimposed them), and allowing Internet service providers to charge different rates for different services (repealing destructive net neutrality).
His words alone sent a message: Not everyone needs welfare. You can work!
Under Obama, people stopped looking for work. The Democrats’ message is: Poor people are victims of an unfair system; you need handouts.
Under Trump, people started working again. Six million Americans were accepted. Unemployment fell to a 50-year low.
Trump signed the First Step Act, which reduces long prison sentences for drug-related offenses.
He launched Operation Warp Speed, which speeds up the production of COVID vaccines.
He appointed judges who believed in free speech and limited government.
Hooray for President Trump!
But then there’s evil Trump.
He lies and breaks promises.
Trump promised he would cut spending, big league and then increase spending.
Bidens has been worse; this crazy spending by administrations is why inflation is killing your savings. But Trump is better. He increased spending from a staggering $4.1 trillion in 2017 to $6.55 trillion in 2020.
Trump has promised to end America’s wars. He didn’t do it. In fact, he signed a whopping $738 billion defense bill, boasting that it was an all-time record! At least Trump, unlike his predecessors, has not started new wars.
Trump has imposed tariffs on China, ignorantly claiming they will protect American consumers. Instead, the tariffs punished American consumers and businesses. So Trump gave billions of your dollars to farmers and others hurt by his tariffs.
Finally, Trump refused to accept the election results. For 224 years, our democracy has had a peaceful transition of power. Trump ended that.
He lied about voter fraud. He told his supporters, Fight like hell.
On January 6, he told them to march peacefully on the Capitol, but when things turned bad, he did nothing. Hours later he posted a video asking the protesters to go home.
Now he shows no remorse for any of the bad things he did.
Because of Trump, Biden is likely to be re-elected.
