Former President Donald Trump lashed out at an NBC reporter following a campaign rally in March after becoming frustrated with the reporters’ line of questioning, according to reports.

Don’t ask me, Trump said after journalist Vaughn Hillyard suggested Trump seemed frustrated by the investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Braggs, according to a recording obtained by Vanity Fair and the Washington Post.

The engagement escalated further after Hillyard continued to raise questions about the investigation, revolving around Trumps Truth Social posts in which the former president warned of potential death and destruction if he was indicted.

I don’t want to talk to you, Trump told Hillyard. Can you hear me? You’re not a good person, Trump added when Hillyard tried another question, turning to take a question from another reporter, according to Vanity Fair.

After Hillyards’ third attempt to get an answer, Trump told aides All right, let him go, get him outta here. Out here. During that interaction, Trump also grabbed two Hillyards phones and tossed them aside.

The incident occurred aboard Trumps plane following his March 25 campaign rally in Waco, Texas, days before the former president was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury investigating hush money payments to two women.

Trump is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York through a “catch and kill” scheme designed to conceal damaging information and illegal activity before the 2016 election. He is not pleaded guilty at his arraignment on April 4.
