It was Mr Trump’s latest criticism of Mr Bidens decision not to attend.

Earlier this week, Mr Trump, speaking in Scotland, told GB News: Certainly, he should be here as our representative of our country.

I was very surprised. I think its very disrespectful for him not to be here.

Last month, the White House announced that Jill Biden, the First Lady, would lead the US delegation for the Coronation.

The 80-year-old President made an extended visit to Ireland last month to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, and to visit extended family.

White House officials are trying to play down any suggestions that his absence from the Coronation represents a threat to the special relationship.

They indicated that her relationship with the King was strong and pointed out that President Dwight Eisenhower did not attend the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
