Mike Pence Defends Donald Trump in Sexual Assault Conviction

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday offered a scathing response to questions about a jury finding Donald Trump liable for sexual assault and defamation in a civil suit filed against former president of the advice columnist E. Jean Carroll.

In an interview with NBC News Dasha Burns, potential 2024 candidate Pence was asked if the verdict changed his own view of whether Trump, who launched his own campaign in November, is fit to serve as president again.

I think that is a question for the American people. I really can’t comment on a judgment in a civil case, Pence answered. I know nothing about those things and I’m sure the president will defend himself in that regard.

Pence, whom Trump supporters want executed on Jan. 6, 2021, the insurrection after he rejected the demands of the then presidents to annul the result of the 2020 election, then it was described as another story dedicated to my former running mate who I know is a great attraction among the members of the national media, but I don’t think that’s where the American people are focused.

Burns said Trump was found liable by a jury of people of sexual abuse.

For you personally, are you comfortable with someone found responsible in this case serving as president? he asked.

I will tell you, in my four and a half years of service with the president, I have never heard or witnessed such behavior, Pence responded. And so, again, I have no knowledge of those allegations or the truth or veracity of them and I don’t want to comment on a civil judgment.
