E. Jean Carroll’s lawyer is considering another suit over Donald Trump’s CNN comments

A lawyer for E. Jean Carroll, the former magazine writer who successfully sued former President Donald Trump for sexual abuse and defamation, says she will consider filing another lawsuit against comments of mr. Trump at a CNN town hall.

During the prime-time session, Mr. Trump said that Ms. Carroll is a lousy job and his assault claim is a fabricated story.

The lawyer of Ms. Carrolls, Roberta Kaplan, said they will consider another defamation lawsuit.

Everything is on the table, obviously, and we have to give it serious consideration, the lawyer told The New York Times, which also interviewed Ms. Carroll following the civil judgment and town hall.

said Ms. Carroll said he did not watch the town hall live, but his attorney sent him a transcript of it in the morning.

Its just stupid, its just disgusting, vile, foul, it hurts people, she told the newspaper. I am angry on behalf of the young men of America. They cannot hear this balderdash and old-time view of women, which is a caveman view.

A Manhattan jury last week cleared Mr. Trump on the rape of Ms. Carroll in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s but was ordered to pay about $5 million, or about $2 million for assault and about $3 million for defamation.

Mr. filed Trump’s notice of appeal to the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Thursday, shortly after Judge Lewis Kaplan formally confirmed the jury’s decision and ordered Mr. Trump to pay Ms. Carroll.

Mr. Trump leads the GOP field in early voting in the 2024 presidential primary.

CNN’s decision to hold a town hall divided opinion, with some angry that it took a major stage to slam Ms. Carroll and repeated unsubstantiated claims about the 2020 election in front of a Trump-friendly audience while others said it was a legitimate exercise for the news network to sit down with a former president and leading candidate in 2024.
