Ron DeSantis blames Donald Trump for recessions in 2022

Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to bash Donald Trump’s apparent belief that he is not at the center of what the Governor calls a “culture of defeat” in the Republican Party.

In an interview Monday on the Guy Benson Show, the Governor blasted the former President, linking him to poor results in every election cycle since 2016.

“Well, we’ve had three consecutive election cycles where we’ve had bad results. I mean, that’s just the fact, 2018, we lost the House, 2020, the presidency and the Senate. And then, 2022, the circumstances have probably never been better for our party in the last 10, 15 years, to have a flowing president in Joe Biden, the approval rating at 40%, “observed by DeSantis.

“And what did we do? We didn’t just get seats in the Senate. We lost a Senate seat, yes, took the House, but by the skin of our teeth, and really only because of Florida and New York. And so it was a historic underperformance across the board,” DeSantis added, before being asked if the former President knew what he was talking about.

“So I’m not sure what he’s saying that his candidates did well in the midterms. If that were the case, we would have 54 seats in the Senate. We would have swept all the governorships. All those things were played out for us as a party, and we just couldn’t do it.”

The comments were the second attempt on Monday to respond to Trump’s attacks on DeSantis as not being a “winner.”

First of all, I’m not caught up in the past. And second of all, I’m doing better against Biden than the polls, and I’m doing better against him, Trump told The Messenger. I mean, I’m beating (DeSantis) by 40 points in some polls, so he can talk about what he wants. And third of all, I did very well in Midterms.

The comments on Fox News Radio reinforced remarks the Governor made in Sarasota last Monday.

I think the party has developed a culture of defeat. I think there is no responsibility. And I think in Florida, we really showed what it takes to not only win, win big and then deliver big.

Ultimately, when you do all this, what results are you producing for people? That’s what really matters. You can sit there and talk about cable news, social media, all the other things that people pay attention to, DeSantis added. And for me it was like, OK, what is true north?’

Obviously you have to win, otherwise you don’t get a ticket to the dance, DeSantis continued. But once you do that, how can you actually make a big difference to improve people’s lives?
