Donald Trump slams Kayleigh McEnany’s ‘Milktoast’ attack

Former President and current White House candidate Donald Trump was rescued by right-wing critics Wednesday after he dismissed his former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany as “milktoast.”

Trump, 76, turned on McEnany, now a Fox News contributor, late Tuesday after he said he couldn’t sell his Iowa polling lead to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a segment on “Outnumbered,” co-hosted by McEnany.

Kayleigh Milktoast [sic] McEnany just gave false poll numbers to FoxNews [sic]Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, misspelling “milquetoast.”

I’m 34 points in DeSanctimonious, not 25 above. While 25 is great, its not 34,” he added. He knew the number had been corrected upwards by the group that produced the poll. RINOS & Globalists can get him. FoxNews [sic] only REAL Stars should be used!!!

McEnany, 35, served as White House press secretary from April 2020 until the end of Trump’s term, after becoming a staunch defender of the 45th president on cable news shows.

“The attack on Kayleigh McEnany is insane. She’s one of the best press secretaries ever,” “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade said Wednesday morning before pointing out that McEnany is “an analyst now. He doesn’t work for any campaign.”

“Think how immature it is to attack your former press secretary, who is nothing if not dishonest, for allegedly misquoting a poll number,” tweeted Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume.

“This nonsense from Trump is a disgrace,” tweeted Trump’s former deputy communications director Matt Wolking, who now works on a political committee that raises funds for DeSantis.

“[McEnany] fake news hoaxers and liberal media activists have been killed every day for years. He took countless arrows to defend her and he was good at it.”

Jenna Ellis, a former Trump legal adviser, also weighed in on McEnany’s behalf.

Kayleigh was one of the only voices defending Trump on CNN when he ran at 16. I often disagreed with her, but she was willing, relentless and unafraid to be grossly outnumbered. He then served as Trump’s chief spokesman when he was president. He also likes DeSantis. Result: pic.twitter.com/ZwToHGOvpm

“I’ll just leave it here in case people ask why I and *many* others aren’t back for 2024,” he tweeted.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who endorsed DeSantis for president, poked fun at Trump Tuesday night while examining the debt deal between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Biden in an interview with McEnany as he filled in. “The Ingraham Angle.”

Everything in sight from this deal hatched this weekend is pretty milquetoast, if that word means anything to you, Roy said. The former White House press secretary did not acknowledge the comment.

When Kayleigh McEnany was Press Secretary under Trump, MAGA loved posting videos of destroying regime propagandists. Now he is milk toast. Christina Pushaw went from BASED to traitor. This is rubbish. There is no honor with you here.

In April, Trump re-shared a post with McEnany praising one of her interviews, but took his encouragement of DeSantis to throw her hat in the ring two months earlier.

“I don’t think Kayleigh is speaking very highly of DeSanctimonious now that her polls have been shot!,” her former boss wrote on Truth Social.

It was unclear which specific poll was being discussed Tuesday.

Trump’s average lead in Iowa was 33 points as of Wednesday, according to aggregator FiveThirtyEight.

An Emerson College poll released last week had him by 42 points in the Hawkeye State.
