Donald Trump was indicted yesterday on seven charges that, if he is convicted, could carry a maximum combined sentence of 100 years in prison.
The historic federal indictment of the 45th president is related to the storage of classified documents at his home in Palm Beach, Florida.
He is scheduled to appear in federal court in Miami at 3pm ET on Tuesday, his lawyer confirmed.
Following the indictment, Mr Trump declared on Truth Social that I am an innocent man.
The corrupt Biden Administration informed my lawyers that I had been indicted, apparently because of the Boxes Hoax, he said in a separate post.
The Department of Justice is investigating Mr Trump for violating the Espionage Act and for obstruction of justice over the discovery of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, the latest setback to hit his campaign in presidency in 2024.
The DoJ has not made any comment on Mr Trump’s statements but reports are that the former president is facing seven charges in the case.
Republicans, including Mr Trump’s rivals for the 2024 presidential nomination, have rallied behind the former president while criticizing the arming of federal law enforcement.

Former president Donald Trumps attorney Alina Habba told Fox News that she is embarrassed and ashamed to be a lawyer after the former president was sued.
Ms Habba spoke on the Jesse Watterss show amid news that a federal grand jury had indicted Mr Trump on charges related to his alleged unlawful retention of national defense information.

The Trump attorney added that the accusations of the twice-impeached former president amount to a shiny ball meant to distract the American public.
