Donald Trump arrived at a federal courthouse in Miami on June 13, where he was placed under arrest and booked on charges related to the mishandling of classified documents. He was arraigned before magistrate judge Jonathan Goodman, according to the New York Times.

Trump was not required to take a mug shot, as many photos of him can be used for identification purposes, but he was required to submit digital fingerprints and share his social security number and date of birth during the booking process.

The former president was accused of attempting to conceal and lying about classified documents in an indictment filed June 8. Trump formally entered a plea of ​​”not guilty” to 37 charges by special counsel Jack Smith who bound to the documents.

Walt Nauta, Trump’s personal aide, is also in federal court, as he is also accused of lying to investigators and hiding boxes of confidential documents. Nauta did not enter a plea but was instead given an extension until June 27 to find local representation.

Alina Habba, a lawyer for Trump, spoke to reporters in the courthouse, explaining why the former president was given different treatment compared to other defendants. “President Trump is in a very unique position where he doesn’t need to be given a mugshot, obviously,” he said. “He is not a flight risk. He’s the leading GOP candidate right now. He is going through a process that has been contacted by the Secret Service and it will all be handled seamlessly.
