Just a brief response to MarkThiessens column published in the June 22 edition of the Midland Daily News, Biden should pardon Trump. Really.”
Why on God’s green earth would anyone take this position given what we now know about past presidents and current behavior? Granting him a pardon will only embolden the former president to continue his personal and political agenda when it does nothing to heal the country.
Let’s be clear, Trump’s supporters will continue to support him regardless of whether President Biden grants a pardon or not. And frankly, why should Biden take the right from those who believe that no one is above the law to forgive someone who has done so much harm to our country and will continue to do so regardless of the consequences.
The former president has a loyal following. His supporters will follow him off a cliff before recognizing the man’s faults. If he was forgiven, he knew for sure that he could shoot someone in Time Square and get away with it.
After all that has been said and done its time for the former president to own up to his behavior.
No pass and no excuse!
