Earlier this month, CNN reported that prosecutors had indicated continued interest in a tumultuous Oval Office meeting that took place in the final days of the Trump administration, where the former president considered some of his most desperate proposals. to keep him in power over objections. from his White House counsel. (Those measures, as we know from contemporaneous reporting, included the use of martial law and confiscation of voting machines.) According to multiple CNN sources, federal investigators have asked to several witnesses before a grand jury about the meeting. Later, in a town hall on Fox News, he repeated the claim that his poll numbers were the only reason he was indicted and could face additional charges unrelated to, you know, his attempts to steal a second term and his instigation of an insurrection.
