If you’re planning on naming your baby Donald, there’s a solid chance that Donald is the only hell in his class.
According to the Security Administration’s latest list of popular baby names, Donald’s popularity saw a big decline in the year 2020. The name fell 55th place, from 555th most popular name for boys. in 2019 to 610th last year’s lowest- ever ranking on the annual list, which dates back to the 1880s.
Donald is just below Axton, Dariel, Marvin and Brycen. Last year, only 444 newborns were named Donald, compared to 507 in 2019, 539 in 2018 and 602 in 2017.

Donald rose to prominence in 1934, when it became the sixth most popular name for boys. That year, 30,408 boys (and 110 girls) were named Donald.
Since then, the name has followed a general pattern of decline, though it has gotten a slight bump from No. 489 to No. 485 in 2017, the year President Donald Trump took office. In the following years, however, it returned to the downward trend, and 2020 marked its steep decline.
Presidential names often decline in popularity during their administration. The truth of Ronald during the Reagan era, Richard during the Nixon era, Gerald under Ford and George under HW Bush. The name Lyndon saw a boost in 1964, a year after he took office, but it tanked for Johnsons remaining time in office.
Because SSA data only includes names given to five or more newborn babies in a given year, the name Barack did not appear here until 2007, when five boys were named Barack. That number rose to 71 in 2009 before declining in the entire remaining Obamas presidency.

As Donald’s popularity continued to decline, the names of several Trump family members also fell off the list. Last year, the Tiffany name dropped to 96th spot from No. 696 to No. 792, and Eric went from No. 176 to No. 198. The name Jared that of former sons -in -law and senior counselors fell seven places from No. 361 to No. 368.
Although Melania was one of the fastest rising baby names for girls in 2017 when it ranked No. 933 names next fell into the Top 1,000 list. In 2020, 190 girls were named Melania, down from 208 in 2019 and 233 in 2018.
However, the two outsiders are the names Ivanka and Barron. In 2020, 106 Ivankas babies were born, somewhat up from 95 in 2019 and 97 in 2018. But the name still did not reach its peak in 2017, when 165 baby girls were named Ivanka.
Last year, 134 baby boys were named Barron, from 107 in 2019 and 121 in 2018. Like Ivanka, the name still hasn’t been restored at the 2017 peak, when 136 Barrons were born.
