In 2020, not only did American citizens reject Trump’s attempt to secure a second term of the presidency, they also stopped naming their baby Donald in groups.
According to HuffPost, the latest list of popular baby names in Social Security management shows the name Donald plunging 55 spots-from 555th most popular name for boys in 2019 to 610th in 2020. The name is placed in its lowest position in the history of the list, which began tracking names in the 1880s.
The former president’s first name ranks below the names Axton, Dariel, Marvin and Brycen. The name Donald rose to popularity when Trump first took office in 2017 but began to decline soon after, with 2020 marking its steep origins.
As HuffPost points out, the names of presidents typically see a decline in popularity while in office. Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George HW Bush, all saw their first names laid out in the ranks.
The name Karen also rose to prominence last year. The name became a consistently negative meme that came from black Twitter and crossed over so that popularity fell to 171 spots in 2020-plummeting from 660th on the list to 831st, the lowest place since 1927.
But Trump may find solace in some other naming news. Republican lawmakers in Oklahoma, in opposition to Democrats, were recently named as a highway. Beginning in November, a portion of U.S. 287 that stretches from Boise City to the Texas border will be renamed the President Donald J. Trump Highway.
