STONEBORO, Pa.. – Donald D. Harig, 83, of Fairview Township, Stoneboro, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at his home.
Don was born in Youngstown, on April 4, 1938, to the late Howard H. and Dorothy Mae Gebhardt Harig. He joined the Marine Corps Reserve and served from 1955 to 1961.
Don was also a carpenter by trade, belonging to Youngstown Local 171 and Shenango Valley Local 241. He built many homes and businesses in the Youngstown and Shenango Valley area.
Don married his beloved wife, Nancy Lester Harig, Aug. 25, 1961; preceded him in death July 25, 2019. In 1976, Don and Nancy bought their farm in Fairview Township and moved from Youngstown. He enjoys making hay on his farm and planting corn.
Don was an avid hunter and enjoyed the deer season, passing on his hunting skills to his sons, who in turn passed on to their offspring. He was also able to fix almost anything and always enjoyed the challenge.
He and his late wife were members of Coolspring Presbyterian Church.
Don is survived by his sons, Alan (Joanne) Harig of Canonsburg, Pa., David Harig of Plain City, Philip Harig of Stoneboro and Paul Harig of Sandy Lake, Pa .; grandchildren, Alexa, Amber, Ashley, Kyle, Drew, Kristen, Julie, Michelle and Alex; and great -grandchildren Ryder, Pyper, Xaver, Zoey, Luke and Ethan.
In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded by the death of his great-granddaughter, Adrianne Marie Harig-Oliva; and sister, Carolyn McCorkle.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcomed 5 to 7 pm Friday, June 11, 2021, and 10 to 11 am Saturday, June 12. An 11 am funeral service will follow the visit on Saturday at the funeral home.
The interment will take place at Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City, Pa.
