Although the U.S. Constitution does not include a mechanism that would allow the return of a president who has lost an election, a new poll shows nearly a quarter of Americans including 30% of Republican voters believe that former President Donald Trump returns to the White House this year, a recent poll from The Hill / HarrisX shows.
While the former president has spread significantly in the Republican Party and could run again in 2024, he will not be reinstated this year. Legal experts say the notion is purely fictional a conspiracy theory revealed by My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell that Trump has floated the trustees, according to The New York TimesandThe National Review.
But HarrisXs survey of nearly 1,000 registered voters last week showed similar results to a Politico / Morning Consult poll that found nearly one-third of Republicans said Trump was likely to seize President Joe Biden some time this year.
The idea is linked to Trump repeatedly making no waste claims that widespread election fraud or irregularities were spent on him by the White House. In fact, Biden won more than 7 million popular votes and left Trump in Electoral College 306 to 232. Congressional certification was the electoral number in January despite a failed, deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump followers.
Seventy -seven percent of respondents said Trump is unlikely to be reinstated, including 70% of Republicans, 87% of Democrats and 74% of Independents. Thirteen percent of Democrats and 26% of Independents told HarrisX that Trump is somewhat or likely to be reinstated.
Biden said he plans to run again in 2024, so to prevent unforeseen events, he is unlikely to resign. The only way to remove a Democrat before his term expires according to the Constitution is by impeachment and conviction, or by the 25th Amendment if the vice president and Cabinet agree that he is unable to perform his duties.
Either incident did not involve Trump, however. Vice President Kamala Harris has been sworn in as president in any scenario involving Bidens ’resignation or removal, according to the Constitution.
The recent poll from HarrisX and Morning Consult follows a survey conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute and Interfaith Youth Coreon the QAnon conspiracy movement, which is closely linked to false claims of election fraud. That vote showed that 15% of Americans including nearly a quarter of Republicans say they believe the U.S. government, media and financial worlds are controlled by a group of satanic pedophiles who run a global operation on child sex trafficking.
Seventy -three percent of those who believe QAnon is labeled a domestic terror threat think the FBI thinks Trump should still be in the White House, which Biden called rising threats to U.S. democracy and in another country.
At least 20% of Americans believe in QAnon’s core principle that There is an coming storm that will remove the elites from power and restore the rightful leaders. Fifteen percent say the country is so far down the path, true patriotic Americans could use violence to save our country, according to the poll.
Local, state and federal election officials of both major parties from town clerks and county boards to secretaries of state and judges appointed by Trump himself said there was no widespread irregularity of fraud which affected the 2020 career.
Trumps owners are the Homeland Security experts who called the election the safest in U.S. history, and said they found zero evidence that polling machines were abused, an often false claims spread by Trump lawyers, Republican politicians and followers on social media. Trumps’ own attorney, William Barr, said the Justice Department found no evidence of widespread fraud after an investigation.
