Donald Trump is back in Facebook advertising

[ad_1]

Despite Facebook’s insistence that Donald Trump has been banned from their platform for at least two years, the former official page of the President’s campaign, Team Trump, began running new political advertising on June 18th.

The ads, which remained active until June 21, targeted Trump supporters nationwide for fundraising and the region to advance an upcoming rally in Ohio. They also slapped President Biden and Vice President Harris in a similar way in messaging Trump’s campaigns in the 2020 election.

Team Trump’s official page is now owned by the former President’s political action committee, Save America. Save America is an entity directly controlled by Donald Trump, and Team Trump has not posted on Facebook since March 17. These ads clearly violate Facebook’s policy prohibiting Donald Trumps from using their platform.

This is just the latest example of Facebook’s failure to enforce their own policies related to political advertising and misinformation on their site. Two weeks ago, our team spotted a wing page promoting advertising against the vaccine to thousands of users. Those ads were permanently deleted.
